Sister Rose's Dream

My name is Sr. Rose and I belong to the Order of Sisters of Visitation Georgetown.

I come from Kenya, and my people have asked for my help. In fact they suggested that I leave the community to help them. That touched me so much, I needed to do something.  I was so desperate.  The government has never come to my village to help people, and it seems they are forgotten completely.  I have grown from this place; walking so far to school, walking so far to go to the hospital, walking so far to get water, to get firewood…Everything seemed to be a struggle.

These people are voiceless and I feel I am called to be their voice.  I want to see these people being helped, to have roads so that they can travel in and out, to have clean water, to have medical facilities because people die before they reach the doctors.  My mother died of a simple sickness that could have been treated, but there was no hospital or health center near. it was too late.

In my village, I want to buy a piece of land and on this piece of land I want a well where people can get water.  We are going to put a school here.  I feel God has put this burden in my soul to help these people.  I was so desperate but the Lord has spoken to me so clearly, and he said, "I will make a way where there is no way".  And with that I got so much courage, and I started asking help.

I want to break the cycle of poverty which is so much in my community.  Education is the way of unlocking the mind.

I need many benefactors, people who will be touched, people of good will, who will come and support this project because it will be so meaningful.  I feel that you can help these people, you can become a blessing to this people. You pay it forward, and God will bless you. I believe that if you help one single person you can change the world.
